Our team is proud to carry on a long tradition of excellence in veterinary care. Dr. Rock Irvine founded NSAH in 1989 with a mission that was simple if not easy—to create a hospital that the Napa community could trust to consistently deliver exceptional patient and client care.
He was joined in this pursuit by Dr. Mary Whitehill in 1991, and NSAH has continued to grow the size of our staff and the scope of our services ever since to better meet the needs of our community.
While Dr. Rock retired in November of 2018 after many years of distinguished service, Dr. Mary continues to serve as our medical director, and she is joined in her on-going pledge to keep pets healthy and clients happy by a host of long-time team-members as well as carefully selected and talented additions to the NSAH family of care providers. In fact, our longest-serving team member has been with us since 1990! Yet our selection and training processes ensure that all of the doctors and support staff who have joined the NSAH family over the years have embraced our hospital’s mission to the utmost. At NSAH, we love what we do because we are proud of why and how we do it.
Our work brings us joy and satisfaction in many forms, but we also know and understand the difficult realities of our profession and are sensitive to the individual needs and circumstances of our patients and clients. As a team, our doctors and staff trust one another to be honest and responsive in all of our communication, and to be accountable for our actions in best assessing and managing patient care. We are most grateful for the opportunity to continue getting to know and care for your pets and your families.
Community Contributions
We build lasting relationships between our veterinary team and our patients and clients. Whenever possible, we do what we can to serve our wider community of pets and people, including those in need. Our doctors and staff are committed to using their richly varied educations and experiences to promote animal wellness programs and animal care, and they regularly contribute their extensive skills and resources to programs put on by organizations such as our local Napa Humane. Indeed, NSAH’s own Team Kimba has proudly been the largest fundraiser at the annual Walk for the Animals event put on by Napa Humane every August in the city’s downtown district. In 2019, we raised a grand total of $14,045 for Napa Humane! Go Team Kimba!
